I don't think we need to be 20, but anything under 12-15 might be a little cost prohibitive. I'm in regardless!!

PH,

As Paul would say, "We're confirming our confirmed" Wink

I'll contact M-Driver and see if he and the Mrs. are interested.

UPDATED - M-Driver will be out of the country

Anyone else interested should chime in pretty soon. If we don't get enough bodies to do the private room, we'll need to make arrangements to dine with the general population. I'll inquire to see if the private room was a prerequisite for BYO. Hope not......

We'll miss you and the Mrs., Irwin.

I'm with you PH, if the numbers don't improve, it doesn't make sense for the private room. If they give you a hard time with BYO, Casa Klymkev is always an alternative.

In fact, for this theme, it seems quite appropriate, what with Mrs. Klymkev's connection to the mother land, and familiarity with the culinary arts of said country (Spain, that is, not so much Portugal).

I'll know for sure tomorrow. fwiw, the maximum they'll seat for a Saturday night in the main dining rooms is 10. Since we're at 9, there is only one slot available if we end up at this restaurant. Will post when I hear.

My contact would prefer that we stay in the private room for obvious reasons. She's volunteered some flexibility in the F&B minimum for the room. Details to follow tomorrow.

Hey, Habu. Nice to hear from you! Cool

Gang, I still haven't heard from my contact, and given that it's date night #1, she may be out of the loop until Monday. We have some options to consider in the meantime:

1) Book the room at ____. Accept the possibility of a $1500.00 (would probably be somewhat less) F&B minimum and move on with life.

2) Cap this event at 10 (the restaurant's maximum for Saturday evening seating in the main dining room) and call it a day. We are currently at 9 without the Habus. We have not heard from Lentini, Jace or sibster.

3) Skip doing this event at ____, and go somewhere else.

If you're interested in attending and haven't chimed in yet, speak up soon!! We'll need to sort this out early next week at the latest.

What was the verdict from ___ about if we did the dining room thing? Will they allow us to bring in our wine?

The comment was that they'd prefer that we stay in the private room if at all possible, and that they would work with us on the F&B minimum. I haven't heard back on that "adjustment."

I was left with the impression that if we dined in the main room that we would still have a shot at BYO, but that we'd pursue that after a decision on the amended proposal for the private room was reached. I'm thinking Monday-Tuesday is s___ or get off the pot time.

This is giving me a headache! Razz Wink

PH,

Many thanks for dealing with this. I imagine it is a HUGE pain in the ...

Interested to see what the "adjustment" ends up being. I would say at $150 each the Mrs. and I are likely out.

If the "adjustment" isn't good enough and we can't BYOB in the dining room, I say we get off the pot and look elsewhere.

Let me know if there is any way I can help out.

I agree.

Their most expensive prix fixe menu for private dining is $65. I'm thinking this would be towards the top end of my comfort level for this place, and at that level I'd be looking for help with corkage to boot.

It probably wouldn't hurt to start thinking of a Plan B, just in case. Will keep everyone posted as I hear from the resto.

Here's a thought:

Since PH's locale is ideal for a larger group, and we're not sure about a large group this time... Let's consider taking Klymkev up on his offer. Next time we have a giant crowd that would be tough to host at a home... we'll call on PH's locale and the minimum won't be a big deal.

And above all... let's not burn out PH! For Bacchus' sake, if he wasn't organizing for us, we'd be in big trouble. We really appreciate your efforts each month, PH.

I should have a final answer on my attendence before the end of the weekend... My sister really wants me up there for her birthday party. But that's a LONG drive. But I owe her from last year. Anywho... I'll let you guys know by Sunday on my side. I would be very sad to miss a Spanish tasting at the Klymkevs, that's for sure.

Big Grin

Worry not, Lentini. I'm far from burnt! Good news from ____. They've lowered the F&B minimum to $1,000. Right now our groups is:

PH
Festiva
sarbuze (2)
klymkev (2)
Gentleman farmer
cometspider (2)
sibster

This would make dinner $100 a head plus tax and gratuity. Still a little steep, but much better than before.

I don't have a strong feeling either way, so I'll leave it to the gang. If klymkev's offer is still good that might make a good alternative.

PH
