Weather Report: the snow has pretty much stopped, the sun is trying to get out, and the wind seems to have died down. Anticipated local temperature at 7pm tonight?

Minus 9, wind chill -17. Hope you've brought your winter woolies! Big Grin

And no more earthquakes expected for at least another day or two. Eek

bman,

I had no idea what you were talking about until I read this. I trust every thing/one is OK in the bman household.

Thanks for the concern, we're fine. In fact, we first thought it was a big truck on a main road near us.

We went through several large earthquakes when we lived in Central America, two of which knocked us off our feet. Also some in Delhi and Isbad. This one made us nostalgic for those glory days....

They arrived safe and sound, albeit a bit late after nearly 8 hours en route, thanks to multiple accidents on the 401.

But a good time was had by all, I think. It was great to meet the Montreal gang, and Luc and Bacchuse and their guests. Our little Ottawa gang is now up to 8! Cool

I'll have to agree that it was a perfect evening. Excellent food and wines. It was great meeting everyone. Unfortunately I didn't get to speak with everyone, but I enjoyed being there.
Like I said yesterday Bman, anytime you want to do a tasting with the Ottawa gang count me in. And congrats for putting all this together after so many months.

Thanks to Bman for arranging such a great event. The food was excellent and the wines were impressive. It was very nice for everyone to wait for the starving Toronto contingent that were 1:38 late for dinner!!!!

It was great to meet Bacchuse, Luc, Vinaigre, Mimik and Impulse and good as always to see the Bmans, Steve8s and Carriedca.

My WOTNs were the 1959 Moulin Touchais, the 1997 Jaboulet La Chapelle and the 2000 Clos de Tart.

BTW, the Clos de Tart is sold out in Ontario and the 2 bottles showing at Bayview don't exist. Frown

Oh.... next time anyone proposes a Feb Ottawa offline.... I am either flying, taking the train or staying home! Razz Big Grin

I'm back....

It was my pleasure guys, and not really much trouble at all.

Nice to see you Toronto folk got home safely and quickly. I recommend the train next time, it's the best combination of speed and minimum hassle between Ottawa and Toronto, in winter at least.

My WOTN was the Jaboulet la chapelle also, though my first Jurancon was great too. Cool It was fun to try so many wines I rarely if ever do. Disappointment of the night was my 99 Coulon Boisrenard chateauneuf du pape, but perhaps some more years will improve it.

Thanks to bman for organizing such a great offline. It was a pleasure to finally meet the Montreal forumites.
In the last 24hrs, I spent 12 driving, 5 hours drinking, and the rest of the time with a bladder ready to explode. As baird said, the next time someone suggests an offline in Ottawa in February, have their friggin' head examined!
Actually, the ride to Ottawa was a blast, especially watching blondie ahead of us, and the
poor SOB's behind us who rear-ended someone at less than 10 miles/hour.

Well we are back, the kids are fine, they did not even miss us. And that's how we wanted it.
I want to thank my sister for the babysiting that allowed Catherine and myself to meet such a great gang of people and to have a superb meal and some wonderfull wines to boot.
Bman; your choice of restaurant, the room upstairs and the menu was perfect !!

It is always fun meeting everyone and putting a face to the moniker.

I now have the pleasure to wonder when the next offline will be. (Other than the MWP offline: that's the 24th march for those interested.)

I just wanted to reiterate the great time I had meeting all of you at the Ottawa offline. DoktaP, Baird, Basecadet and Futronic, it was great meeting you all and will be sure to look you up if I come to Toronto.

Bman and Bmanette, nice meeting both of you and a million thanks for setting this all up.

Nice talking to you Carried.ca and to L(bacchuse?), Don, F(Luc's friend) and Luc Sabourin.

The food was very nice and the private room was fantastic. My WOTN (in no order of preference) were the Juranceau 1998, La chappelle 1997, and the Reisling with honorable mentions to the 2001 Montus Prestige and the 1959 Moulin Touchais.(thanks Vinaigre). I will pick up some 92 or 90 soon.

Finally, thanks Vinaigre and C for arranging the accomodations and the dessert wines and special thanks to Steve8 and J for allowing me to ride with you(It would have been too far to walk Razz).
Hope to see you Impulse at the next MWP offline.

Cheers!!

Same here. Had a great evening, the wines were fantastic and the restaurant made the rest perfect.

It was a good first time for me and hopefully I can repeat the experience soon.

The evening was perfect, except for the flat tire I had on the way back after the event. It was really cold at 2h00 AM in the middle of nowhere!

The trip to Ottawa was difficult, but things turned out well and I had a very nice time. A pleasure to meet the Montreal contingent, and always great to see the usual suspects.

Thanks to bman for organizing things at Beckta. As was already stated, next time "Ottawa offline" and "February" get mentioned in the same sentence, maybe things should be thought out in a more rational manner. Razz

Look forward to seeing some of you again in Toronto on the 17th.

I was looking for info on the 59 Moulin Touchais (I was trying to tell my French lcass this morning what it was, and realized that I din`t know Red Face), and found this TN:

http://www.finewineexperience.com/reviews/reviews24.php

Not sure that it`s the same wine though.

Is anyone gonna start a TN thread? I will probably not be online again for some time, and I`m reticent to post much on wines I (sadly) so rarely drink.

Red Face That sucks. It's the kind of situation teaches you how fast you can change a tire if you have to.

Thanks to Bman for arranging this event. Great to see the old friends again and to meet the new ones, Impulse, Luc, Bacchuse and friends.

My favourite wines were L'Evangile, La Chapelle and Moulin Touchais. I was disappointed with '77 Warres. Not worth the $$$$.

And thanks to you, Steve, for managing the opening and pouring of the wines while I was slacking off at the other end of the table! Cool

And for bringing the 77 Warre, of course, which I liked better than the 83 Dow.
