I was about to comment on this anyway:

I inititally proposed PN as one half of the theme. Seeing as procuring Pinot will require additional purchases from a lot of us, I think we should add something else. We had a lot of Cabs in Louisville and Italians in Cinci. How about Syrah? (not Shiraz.) Will go very well with tenderloin.

There has been a lot of discussion about '97 California Cabs in the past couple of months. Anyone up for a dual theme? How about '97 Tuscany?

Any other suggestions?

I agree with Andrew. Let's do pinot and syrah.

Works for me...not sure whether I'll bring two pinots or a pinot and a syrah. Syrah I have slated for this year I was going to give until late in the year, but we'll see.

I will be there on 2/7. Sorry it took so long to respond. I will bring a Grand Cru Burgundy from the excellent '95 vintage, and possibly a Brian Loring Pinot from his current release. The name of the French PN is:

1995 Remoissenet Clos Vougeot

If I do not bring a BL PN, I will bring a bottle of Alvear PX dessert wine, that I know Kybo will certainly enjoy.

Rhb, how far do you live from the heart of downtown Cinci?

Looking forward to the gathering.

Too late-

The Byron was drank this weekend along with many other bottles to celebrate the finishing of my kitchen remodel! New cabinets, countertops, appliances, lights, tile floors, and everything else. What a better way than to spend a weeks vacation? I think I worked harder last week than I do at my real job- at least the hours were longer. Perhaps someday I will now be able to host an off-line (just need to convince my wife that it is ok to invite over a bunch of winos)

Now I have some incentive to go find a good Pinot to bring to the off-line!

DirtySouth;
Congrats on completing the remodel - isn't it a great feeling of accomplishment when you step back and see a job done well, and you've done the work?

As for having the group over for a tasting party...well, tell you wife we promise not to throw any furniture through the windows and we'll leave right after breakfast! Big Grin

Well since Syrah has been added to the mix I will bring a bottle of 1999 Planeta Syrah from Italy as well as the red Burgundy.

Thanks again Reeta for hosting the 2/7 gathering.

Rhb537,

There is a chance I might bring my friend Tracy to the 2/7 offline. If one more person is added to the mix, is that OK? I will know for sure in the next week or so. She is checking her schedule to see if a road trip to Cinci is feasable or not. As soon as I find out, I will post here. BTW how many confirmed attendees are there? Looking forward to seeing the gang together again (plus some new faces).

IW,
Please feel free to bring your friend. I can seat 18, and if we have more, I'm sure we can make room. I will put out another thread for a head count.
