We can have the next gathering at our house in Cincinnati. Let me know if you want to get together January 31 or February 7.

What's wrong with our usual theme : Drink until you can't drink no more ?

A.

OK - How about Pinot Noir for one half of it?

Yo homies in O-HI-O!!! Please put me in your loop ... you never know ... I might make my pilot fly me down there.

Did I hear Pee-know? Roar, Sea Smoke, St. Innocent, Loring, Siduri, Testarossa ... I can play! Maybe IW can bring a nice Burgundy Smile

Feb 7th would be better for us as well. I will confirm with my wife, but tentatively 1 drinker and one driver coming. (I'm pretty sure that after she hears that Pinot will be the theme, she will wish I was the pregnant one so she can drink!)

PN as the theme? Let's see what I've got to bring...

'96 & '97 Ponzi Reserve (WS grossly underrated the '96 @ 89 pts. IMHO; we'll have to see about the '97)
'97 David Bruce RRV
'99 St. Innocent Shea Vineyard
'99 Flowers Camp Meeting Ridge
'00 Te Kairanga Reserve

Honestly, I don't have a thing worth bringing - looks like I'll have to go shopping! Smile Big Grin

Drink up, Shriner!

I'd suggest a Pinot Tasting containing of 4 flights:

1) Champagne
2) New World, except CA
3) Burgundy (if possible)
4) CA

Perhaps a saucy Sauternes to top it all off Smile

I'd be happy to contribute:
Krug Grand Cuvee
00 St. Innocent 7 Springs
01 Sea Smoke Botella or possibly a Sine Qua Non Red Face

February 7 works for me.

As for wines, if we decide to try R2-D2's flight lineup, I can offer up an '01 Loring Clos Pepe Vineyard for the Calif. flight and either an '00 Bergstrom or an '00 Rowland Jill's Vineyard (from New Zealand) for the New World flight.

I've got some fun things to bring out to play:

Egly-Ouriet Couteaux Champenois Rouge 1997
Albert Mann Grand H Alsace Pinot Noir 2000

(both French Pinot Noir, but not from Burgundy)

Privé Vineyard Yamhill County PN 01 and/or 02

edit - or maybe throw in a German Spatburgunder

Dirty South (2)
eyesintime (1)

Have not heard from Italian Wino, but I hope he can join us. Anyone hear from Rhone Warrior?

To quote kybo (from an email)..."I'm jonesing for this event"....so have we decided...does the pinot theme seem like a good one? Does Mr. Rhb have anything planned for the menu?

I don't know much about pinot, but am looking forward to learning. As far as the menu goes, Mr. rhb will likely make tenderloin. I thought I would start us off with a curried parsnip soup served with Laurent Perrier NV Brut Rose.

The only Pinot I have downstairs is a 2000 Byron. Anyone heard anything about this? Should I go shopping for something new? Any suggestions for something readily available?

We don't really know alot about Pinot either, except that we like it alot. The strong point in my cellar is Italian and Cali Cab. I hope to find some good Pinot's that I can bring into the cellar.

Sounds like 'mucho robusto' will be the order of the day for those Pinots...

rhb - the last bottle of Laurent Perrier NV Brut Rose I had was quite tasty...

Dirty...

Bring the Byron and/or Calif Cab. Since you don't know much about pinot will be a good way to learn. By the looks of those posted so far, we'll have calif, oregon, new zealand and french covered, so a good little primer for us all. I'm bringing a calif (Loring) and either a new zealand or Oregon

I have to say, Pinots aren't my strong suit either. A '97 ZD Pinot is probably my best offering (which likely isn't saying a whole lot).

There has been a lot of discussion about '97 California Cabs in the past couple of months. Anyone up for a dual theme? How about '97 Tuscany?

Any other suggestions?
