We were thinking of doing an offline on the 23rd in the evening. Anyone interested.? Smile

I'd love to come. Can I propose a somewhat more southerly venue? We had a great dinner at Positano (Mt. Pleasant & Eglinton) back in March. I also enjoyed Via Oliveto (Bloor & Spadina) at the July TWC dinner.

We'll be leaving Ottawa around 12:30, so I figure we should be driving into T.O around 4:30-5:00. We'll be arriving during rush hour, so supper can't be too early.

I don't know too many of the places you guys have been. Only know of Nido's (first place we used to go), Splat's and another place which I can't remember.

Talk amongst yourself! Razz I'll give you a topic.

I'm certainly a vote for Boba, although it's perhaps a bit more expensive than the usual TWC venues, so some people may prefer elsewhere.

I'm in, wherever we happen to go. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't Boba's menu be a little more appropriate for a large-scale white tasting?

The venue is unimportant as long as the vehicle Denis and I are riding in after the event and breaking wine glasses in is not my own. Razz Smile

Duojet- consider it done.
Baird- If the ride home is anything like the one from otis' house in Chicago, I'm going to sell tickets. I haven't seen anything that funny in a long time. Great live entertainment.
Even better was carriedca's performance at the restaurant for breakfast and on the car ride to the airport. Stellar. Never to be forgotten. Razz

DoktaP,

At the Betty Ford clinic, I don't think they would consider Carriedca's and my behavior "funny". Big Grin

Thank goodness I get raging hangovers and can't drink for days after getting drunk or I would make a terrific alcoholic. Wink Big Grin

We still haven't settled on venue. I propose that we settle on the uptown/downtown issue first and then we can land on the particular spot.

Everyone knows where I stand, but I'm not sure we have a consensus yet.

Slan,
I'd suggest rock, paper, scissors, but you have to go first! Wink

I suppose we should go by consensus.
Personally- Splat- no corkage, good food/stems/
very supportive pre-BYOW.
Other suggestions? Please be specific (i.e restaurant names).

I'll propose Positano:

- great food
- modest corkage
- the owner's son goes to school with my son
- did I say great food?

(Seriously, I liked Splat, but I think Positano's food is better.)

1. Via Oliveto
2. Positano
3. Where's Unionville?

We were treated very well at Via Oliveto last time, but I have to say that our mains were quite disappointing. I think the food is better at Positano's, but the place is quite tight - and quite hot, since the A/C doesn't seem to be on. Razz

I would (selfishly) prefer a downtown venue, but Splat always great.

Basically, disregard anything I've written in this post. I'll show up wherever the offline is.
