I'll probably call a little closer to the date (to make sure nothing changes). but when I do, I'll let you know.

Great! and 6:30 too! Smile Cool.

I don't need to see the list. I have never lost when I play "stump the wine list" against these places Wink

I won't know til the day before when I see my schedule after returning from three weeks away. Don't save a space for me. If I can make and there is still space, I'd love to go, but I don't want to hold a space someone else might want.

Just one more sip.

I second that idea. Although I enjoyed getting to meet Brian, and get to hear what he had to say, the amount of eye candy there was quite enjoyable!

We checked out the Cabernet Sauvignon Saturday night. It's recovering from bottling pretty well. I had to add a little sulfur so I knew it would take 5-6 weeks to come around. There's a pretty good chance at this point that I'll be bringing some along for everyone to try out "pre-release".

Hey Guys,

was at smith and wolly's tongiht

they changed their policy.. 35$ per bottle is now the corkage fee.

We had to put in a nasty word saying that when we made reservations we were told no corkage so they allowed it. But they said from now on ...

oh well.

My vote is a change of venue due to the corkage...but of course if majority rules then I will most likely tag along,...

We're not offlining anywhere at that corkage rate. This is NYC. Too many other choices. Not to worry.

Also, their rate during the week is not the same as a Friday night. It was never free on Fridays and weekends. Perhaps there is some miscommunication here. Doesn't sound right.

Wagner will get in touch with the big boss over there Monday. He has serious pull. Smile

We are available on Wed and Thurs Aug 8 and 9 also. Would love to share in some wine tasting. I used to be a Chef, but have geared into wine starting a few years ago.

Message for mwagner7700:

Please add me in as 1 person for the August 9 reservation. When I typed my previous message, I had not realized you have been tallying up names to finalize total number. Is it too late to count me in?

Thank you.

I'll call later this morning to find out the deal.

John the reservation was for 15. when I call to check on corkage, I'll also up it so there will be space for you two.

I'll report back later.

OK, I just called and they did change the policy. Corkage is now $35 per bottle. I spoke to the general manager, and since we made reservations prior to the policy change, he'll honor our $0 corkage!!! However, it's on two stipulations...

1. We "take care" of the waiter. I assume that means 'nice tip', which we do anyway.
2. We don't go overboard with the number of bottles. He said 15 would be acceptable, so we'll set the limit at one bottle per person.

John, I misread your first post. You are in as a single, correct? If so, that puts us at 15. If we have more people that want to come, I'll have to see if I can up the reservation number. If I can't, we'll have to start a waitlist.

So...

Date: Thursday, August 9
Time: 6:30PM
Location: Smith and Wollensky
Corkage: $0. (But we can't bring a bottle on their wine list; I can get a copy of that later. Only 1 bottle per person, please).

Confirmed
