Sacred Cow, all you need to do to drink the old Barolos is to take a three week trip to Italy and bring them back with you. Ask Joe for recommendations. Big Grin

As for Saturday night, I don't think I made my declarations on this boards. I can't keep up with one board much less two of them. In any case, I am bringing a white and a red. Maybe the Sacred Cow will like one of them.

Red: 1989 Chateau Palmer
White: 2004 Joseph Drouhin Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Blanc

Still considering, though I did take a trip to storage today. For one night, I will go with the 1989 Chateau de la Gardine Cuvee des Generations. Strongly considering a 1995 Pegau for the second night to see how it is doing (in 750, left the mags in storage). Can be convinced to go New World with maybe a 1997 Etude? 1999 Insignia? Anyway, give me an idea what people prefer New vs. Old and I will post some possibilities.

Plano: What is this "white" wine stuff you post about? Big Grin

Of course, I get the feeling I might bring a few backup bottles. You know. Just in case there is not enough wine one night or t'other.

Right now this is what I'm planning on bringing Friday and Saturday night:

Friday night:

  • 1967 Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barolo Riserva Antichi Vigneti Propri
  • 1994 M. Chapoutier Châteauneuf-du-Pape Barbe Rac

Saturday night:

  • 1995 Château Troplong Mondot

I'll be bringing a full case to cover the weekend so I'll have some backups and pool side drinkers available.

Plano:

I will be bringing both the Etude and Insignia along with all other wines mentioned. Which we open depends on the menu, what other people bring, etc. I just want to bring a variety so we don't have any holes in wine choices. We will open whatever people want to try.

Bump. Almost past the tax deadline and starting to plan and pack. Well, planning and packing are on the horizon. Guess I need to look at a map and figure out how to get there.

Or just jump into a wayback machine, the alternative way to get from Colorado to OKC. Same difference.

I am trying to figure out what I can do to make the drive to OKC more exciting. So far I have come up with:

1) Trying to discern the difference between a good looking tumbleweed and an ugly tumbleweed.

2) Buying a bag of gummi bears or gummi worms and putting them one at a time on top of the steering wheel to see how far I can go without them falling off. I believe my record life to date is 40+ miles in Wyoming. What the heck, it gets the ol' competitive juices flowing.

3) Stopping the car every 50 miles or so, getting out, and seeing how long it takes to find any living creature within eyesight. But this one might make the drive too long.

Any other brilliant ideas from the peanut gallery?

Drive really fast. Get pulled over by a rural cop or better yet the State Police. Tell the cop about your rights. Spend a few hours in podunk jail. Now THAT'S living. Razz

Have a good offline!

Can't think of anything but a word of caution. Once you cross the Oklahoma state line and you suddenly notice all of the cows and sheep backing up to the fence lines don't worry. It's normal.

Good to know WIML, thanks. Eek

As Purple mentioned, expect little to no conversation from us. Just cater to our every whim and you will survive the weekend.

I saw that w&a... Mad

Well, got my gummi bears for the trip. I mentioned that joke to my admin earlier in the week so she went out and bought me some for my Boss' Day present. Didn't realize that was tomorrow. Her present is having me out of the office for the day, so she gets the better end of that deal.
