I'm interested in some of your local events. I just got into wine heavily this past year and just finished building a small cellar in our basement. I'm up for anything where I can learn more and get some insight on which wines to purchase and lay down. I live between Baltimore and Frederick. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Smile

Usual disclaimer as to where and when. I too can't do it the 13th, but the 20th is good.

When in doubt, open another bottle.

Hello,

I'm a newbie - trying to follow a strig initiated by a DC Cru signature - talk to me! What are you guys about?

Hey Jace,

Not sure I understand your question.....

trying to follow a strig initiated by a DC Cru signature

Confused

We get together once a month at a local BYO friendly restaurant or occasionally at a group member's home to eat and drink good wine. Very informal bunch. We'd love to have you join us!

Besides the typo (string, sorry) - I had found what looked like a discontinued DC chat room on wine, with nice pix of familiar things (Kosta Browne, etc.). Having moved back into the area, I thought I would try to make contact. You guys get together on some thematic basis every once in a while?

Must learn to refresh Big Grin - so keep me informed as to your next event, especially for BYO in MD. Anyone a Rockpile fan?

As one of the founding members of the DC Cru (sorry PH, writing this on my laptop so no umlat) I'd be interested what you meant by the DC Cru string. The DC Cru is alive and well on that other board (vinocellar.com) but occasionally dains to dine and drink with the folks here on the senior board. Big Grin

When in doubt, open another bottle.

Dinwiddie (& PH),

Well, I was working my way through wdc forums on Craigs list, some had asked about tasting groups.

rjsoblue responded, "Go to vinocellar.com and look for the DC Crü." There I found a page with some pix of you & friends, engaging in activities I enjoy (been to CA twice this year, opened a 'couple' of bottles, etc.) so I thought I'd dig deeper. However, either I was not sufficiently registered, or...? the vinocellar posts seemed kinda dated - but I noticed familiar names (dw, PH) on this site and there we go. I live off 495 and search for a Cru that does drive too far, into reds, etc.

Jace - Both the MD Wine Spectator group and the DC Crü meet almost every month for either themed or less structured tastings. I can attest that the DC Crü are a great bunch, however I've offlined many more times with our MD group from these boards. You could do much worse than attending a function with either group.... Cool

The VC group is much more DC centric, so if you're looking to stay close to the city, they're your best bet. The MD group has traditionally gravitated to the Baltimore area and suburbs thus far.

A good source of "special character" shortcuts for Windows can be found here. If you're on a Mac, I can't help you. Razz

Jace -

The board that shall not be named here is easiily found here.

The functionality of this format is not my favorite, but navigate to VC Wine Events and you'll find threads related to their tastings.

PH et al....

Will you allow another DC Cruite to participate in additioon to Dinwiddie? I'd be interested in enabling the cross pollination of the two groups if I'm available...

Thanks PH for the okey-dokey to participate...I don't think that the Cru will invalidate my membership card....

Do you have a date/location set up yet? The Cru is discussing doing sushi/champagne in DC probably at Sushi-Ko but not set date yet so I don't want to double book myself...

Haven't set anything yet. Our group is notoriously lackadaisical.... Razz Keep an eye out here. Sushi and Champagne. Yum.

Yes. If you have any Bollinger R.D. you should bring it to your first offline. Wink I had the 1995 a few weeks past and it was great.

You never answered the Rockpile question. Zin or Nick Lowe? Razz
