To all my fellow Pacific NW offliners, I wanted to give you an update on my attempts to put together an offline. I walked down to Volterra last week to talk to them about having us and was handed a card and told to email one of the Owners. Well, I emailed her last week and never heard anything back. So I sent her another email yesterday just as a follow-up. I'll see if she responds to that. If not, then I'll give up on Volterra and try someplace else.
It seemed like the concensus was that Saturday nights probably work best, so I was thinking maybe shooting for either Oct. 6th or Oct. 13th. Any feedback on the dates? Thanks, y'all, and hopefully I'll have something lined up for us soon. |

The 13th is best for me. If Volterra doesn't work out. I just had dinner at TAVOLATA and it was very good; lots of fresh pastas and a private area upstairs.

Go in and ask for Don Curtis, he is the chef/owner and is a great guy. The woman you are referring to I am sure is his wife and she is very nice too.

Sadly, neither works for me. It's amazing how quickly the calendar fills up. I thought fall would bring some relief, but apparently not! The first Saturday that I could swing would be the 27th of October.
Cheers! |

Ok, so everybody check your calendars for October and let's see what works for people. Ms. Bacchus, I know you said the 13th works for you, but what about the 27th? And anyone else - does Saturday, Oct. 27 work for you? If not, can people leave some dates that work for them and then we can see what the best date is. I think I'm pretty much free whenever (nothing on my calendar), so that should be an easy one to match up.
I hope y'all are doing well. |

Well, it appears that BRR (mrs.?) and Ampuis (mrs.?) can swing the 27th. Hopefully, MsBacchus, Mneeley, and TPB will chime in soon to see if the 27th works for them (and anyone else in the area or visiting from out of the area - you are more than welcome).
Sorry to hear that it doesn't work for you and the mrs., mattach! And I never did hear back from Volterra, so instead of trying to get in touch with them a third time, I will try to find someplace else. I would still like to stick with the Italian theme and have Brunello's, Barolo's, Amarone's, and Chianti's spread out all over the table. This message has been edited. Last edited by: sibster, |

27th is out for me but would really like to open my 1997 Masi Amarone. Again try TAVOLATA for a new restaurant.

sibs, I may be available on the 27th, but I have to first find out whether we are in Portland or Seattle that weekend. If in town, you can count me in.... |

Wow, you guys sure plan ahead. I rarely know what I'm doing later in the week.
I can probably make it; Italian sounds great! Got some Barolos or Amarones I could bring. Even have a 10 year old WA Nebbiolo. *********** "Never RE-elect anybody." --Keith Squier |

Have you determined a date? If not, November 3 would work for me.

Ok, everyone - Saturday, October 27th it is!!!
I was able to secure a small private room at Tulio that seats up to 12 people. They are willing to waive the corkage fees for us if we meet their food/beverage minimum for that room - which if we are able to get 8 to 10 of us, we won't have any problem doing. I hope all of you like Tulio. I haven't been there and was going solely off some reviews I've found - and the fact that they had a private room and were willing to waive our corkage fees. So let's get a head count going to make sure we can pull this off. Thanks!!!! |

Hello, everyone. Is anyone still interested in getting together on the 27th? I'm actually on the East Coast at the moment (I get back on Monday), but when I get back I'll need to work out the details with the event coordinator at Tulio's, so please let me know who all can come. If there is anyone new around that hasn't gotten together with our group - you are more than welcome as well.

Hey Sibs, Just spoke with the "better half" and it looks like we are open for the 27th, if the dinner is on. Let us know (also if there is any theme). Looking forward to seeing some of you winos, since I missed the last off-line. |

That's great! Now if we can just get confirmations from BRR, Ampuis, and MNeeley (hopefully they are all still available that night) we should be good. |

Sorry, I keep forgetting to clear it with the warden. I'll make a point of it tonight. *********** "Never RE-elect anybody." --Keith Squier |

I'll know later today, might be "ordered" to attend a haloween party by the "heavy hand", and if I can come then I may have a problem with the Italian theme as all my Barolos and brunellos are from '97 and may still be an infantcide concern....however I'll bring something nice and if its "corked" I'll give each of you a Ben Franklin. |

And the warden said? |

Well, as of right now, the only "definites" are TPB, Mrs. TPB, and myself. BRR was checking with his better half, but both most likely are a "go." MNeeley and Ampuis are checking with their "warden" and "heavy hand."
I just received some sample menus from Tulio's yesterday, so once I have enough people confirmed (we need at least 8 to be able to pull this off without paying out our arse), I'll go ahead and work with the place on getting this thing set up. As of right now, she is still holding the private room for us. |

Sibs, an outstanding job. I see that if all come through then there will be 7...should we be recruiting actively? |
