A little late in getting this started, but it would be nice to continue the annual tradition of a having of gathering of Italian wine lovers in a great city for wonderful wine and food. For the past 3 years, this event has been focused on Brunello, but this may be the year to change things up a little.

The illustrious wine + art has proposed a possible relocation of the event to Chicago this year. Thoughts on theme have varied from Brunello, Barolo & Barbaresco, Super Tuscans etc.

Once we get a host city and theme established we can start working on dates, but these things usually take a couple of months to get nailed down.

Anyone want to do this?

PH

Depending on my teaching schedule, I'll be there. As of now, the first weekend of April is out for me.

As for theme, well ... flights could also be arranged.

You guys are killing me. I'm still trying to make it to Toronto and Dallas and now this? Chicago is pretty easy for me though as it can be combined with a trip to the head office. I'm in, but April is looking tough. Can't do the weekends of the 12/13 or 19/20.

My wife and I will be glad to attend again this year if the dates work for us. Three flights, Barolo, Brunello, Super Tuscan sounds like a good idea.

Depending on the date I am in. I like the idea of 3 flights. How about a Friday night?

Holy cow. Here we go again. Cool I'm uncomfortable capping anything, but we do need to consider pour sizes and venue limitations. I'm thinking multiples of 8, so that we can get a 3 oz. pour per wine. So 16 or 24? We already have 11 possibles and not a peep from the CWM, so we may even go higher.

Our schedule is rough the first half of the year - but obviously if we can swing it we are interested as last year was excellent - Chicago any time before May sounds a little cold for our thin blood - but we'll get out the ski gear

If KSC02 says it's a good idea, then it's a good idea!

Regarding pour sizes, I think you need to get over the idea that we need to try every wine at these events. I've been to several where there were too many people to try every wine and it's still a great time. I thought these things were about the people anyway? Smile Just my two cents. The venue limitation is an issue for sure though.

With 19 (thanks Spacewrangler)last year it was almost too much. The two ends of the table had basicly no contact. Of course in a bigger room, with room to mingle, that wouldn't have been an issue.

I agree with Steve. We shouldn't have expectations of tasting every wine. Tables of 8 at the max (as per PH's suggestion) works out fine. Trading of bottles between tables is okay too.

Otherwise you end up with coordination issues, needing to bring magnums, etc. It's a royal pain in the ass for the most part.
