I will be in the area on business and have a free night on Wednesday. Any of the locals interested and available to get together? Will have a car, so I'm mobile.

Haven't reserved yet. I'm waiting to see if there is any interest here before deciding. If there is, I'll find a place close by. Yes I know, strange priorities.

Steve, I normally drive from Boca to the Gables on Wednesday and could meet you anywhere in between. I would expect MLV and JC to pop in too unless they are already booked.

Not strange, smart!

we could probably do something - it would need to be a little bit on the later side, like 8PM, if that is OK.

As for places, a couple come to mind - Himmarshee Bar and Grill in Fort Lauderdale (corkage usually waived, but tehnically $10) or Armadillo Beach (corkage usually $10 but often waived) in Dania Beach. Haven't been to Chef Allen's since they revamped the menu, so depending on corkage that might be a good choice - although it was high ($25 per, and we were with winemakers) last time we were there.

If you're looking for opinions MLV, I would lean toward the $10 corkage places. Unless Chef Allen's food is to die for. Time is not an issue for me.

I agree. Last time we were at Chef Allen's it was good, but I certainly would not say to die for... the other 2 are good choices, IMO. (And Armadillo is very close to us, too)

How about Pascal's in the Gables?? corkage is $25 but the food is great and prices compare to Chef Allen's. (IMHO Chef Allen's is overated)

I can recommend some other places in the Miami area if interested. Me and Mrs. redknife may be available after 7pm.

Whatever you guys decide is fine... there is no way I could make it to coral Gables at all or be anywhere by 7. If you decide to meet later and further north, we should be able to do it.

Redknife - we would like to get to see you again soon, though! Welcome back.

Well it sounds like you guys are spread out between Boca and Coral Gables, so isn't Lauderdale a happy median?

As for time, why not 7:30 pm? MLV & JC, we can wait until you guys get there before ordering, but we may have to sacrifice a bottle or two during the wait. Wink

I think there are two Dade folks and one S. Broward, and I would be coming from the Gables. I can literally read the sign for Pascal's on Ponce from my office window, but that is too far south for MLV. (redknife - maybe we can meet there one Monday night as they have free corkage then that I have taken advantage of a number of times). My suggestion is N. Dade or S. Broward would probably work best for all, although there are some pretty cool new restaurants in the Design District off of 95 north of downtown.

Has Miami changed in the last 6 years...or are you setting up a vacationing Canadian up for one wrong turn into hell? I myself didn't like exiting off I-95 north of downtown until Ives Dairy Road Big Grin

I haven't eaten at any of them, but I saw a number of them featured on Daniel Boulud's show After Hours with Daniel on Mojo that was shot in Miami last season.

Ok..Biscayne or East of Biscayne is one thing...as long as you give Steve8 a map if you choose that area.

Hey...while you thinking of places..how bout a place in Central Broward for later in the month...LOL.

Sure North Dade or South Broward should be fine.

Vinole I'd be happy to meet you for dinner at Pascal's.

I haven't had a chance to check in here for a couple of days. So Armadillo it is? The menu looks good.

Sorry, I won't be able to make it as a big client invited me to the Heat game that night. Even though they're floor seats, I would still rather drink wine with you guys. Although I remember him telling me he bought a 300 bottle collection of 82 Bordeaux about 3 years ago, so I'll have to ask him how that's drinking and does he need any help? Wink

Mrs. redknife just told me that her best friend is celebrating her birthday that day. So, unless her friend decides to do lunch I will not be able to attend.

OK, So Armadillo it is. The earliest we are available would be 7:30. Let's figure out how many people are coming and I can make the reservation...
