rhb,

If you are coming from Hinsdale to Otis', I should be able to give you a ride if you would like. I live in Western Springs, which is the suburb next to Hinsdale.

Further to Mark Horvatich's post re: cabs. The other terminals at O'Hare also have phone banks by the baggage claim from where suburban cabs can be called. Go to one of those banks, pick up the phone and hit "15" to be connected to American Taxi. I use them all the time, and they have a reasonable flat rate. I know suburban cabs pick up at the American Airlines terminal (Terminal 3) from vestibule 3G.

Those from the cab line are time/distance, which can be very, VERY expensive if you get a driver who doesn't know where they're going (or is trying to pad the bill).

Thanks Mark.
No point in starting the trip feeling ripped off!
Like my trip to Walla Walla for last summer's Soiree!...got $350 worth of cigars confiscated at the border, then dropped an broke a VPort on the steps of Basel Cellars (where we stayed) when we were checking in.

Well Francis, I for one am completely willing to accommodate you.

If you leave on Aug. 15, you can pick me up at home and we can have a liesurely drive to the party. And don't worry about me afterwards-- I'll just hitch a ride with the first trucker I see headed West.

Just let me know your approximate ETA. Smile

Man, I LOVE being a new friend! Smile

I just found out that on the night if August 27th that Mars will pass the closest to Earth it has in just about all of history. It should be the same size as the moon to the naked eye. Now we all have something to stare at while we're flat on our backs! Big Grin

Aw, that's nothing...what til you see the 'Moon's' that will be on display when Seaquam and Eno model their leopard skin thong's! Eek Razz

re/ Thursday Night
It has come to my attention that there are a gaggle of restaurants and clubs in Lakeview.

Seeing that it may be about the same distance from Downtown and O'Hare to Lakeview...would it not be wise to organize something in Lakeview?

Just can't see people staying out near O'Hare wanting to take 1 hr. rides (one way) downtown, not to mention the expense ($$$).

Tyee- Lincoln Park and lakeview are adjacent to each other and have approximately 5000 restaurants. Bucktown is another fun cool neighborhood that is easily accessible from DT, Lakeview, and O'hare. The "L" goes to all these places.

Seaq and Bman- Call NOW for toulouse lautrec tickets. Dates are sold out already. Things sell out early here in the big city. If there's a problem I will look into getting more tickets, I have already gotten a bunch for relatives and the like.

grossie,
Nothing like a little local knowledge...
Perhaps you can suggest a mustering point, perhaps a good pub, where people can meet (say 8 to 9 pm) that is close (walking distance) to a suitable eatery for say 9:30-10 pm.

I quickly googled...
And there is a Giordano's at 1040 W. Bellmont Ave., but personally, I'm not stuck on having to have pizza...

The way I read it was the appearance of Mars in the sky on the 27th would make it look approximately the size of a full moon from Earth. Obviously Mars is still much farther away than the moon from Earth but at the same time much larger as well.

I'm guessing your statement would be equally correct. I'm betting it will be about the same brightness as a full moon as well.

I discourage thongs, well not thongs in particular, but clothing in general.

Which actually last night I had a question for the local guys/girls from Mrs. tlily. What kind of "Scholorship Pagents" (Strip Clubs) do they have downtown?

VM,
Since I will not be making the game, hopefully I can commit to a Friday evening event. I will look for your post. Hall pass permitting (and I am traveling that day) will determine my avail. I will post accordingly.

We're going to be at the Omni Ambassador on North State Pkwy (Gold Coast?), so Grossie, we would also be interested in transport to and from Northbrook.

If any limos are passing by the Residence Inn O'Hare, we'd like to jump in as well, though it seems that we are not so far away if I understand the geography correctly.

Steve- consider yourself counted.

Bman- it's not on the way from the city. You're also not that close to Otis's, but the advantage you have is that you can probably call a suburban cab to your hotel and pay the flat fee as if you were coming from O'hare. Otis will know more about this sort of thing.

The other option is take the "L" into the city and join the city crowd for the ride out.

bman:

The phone number for the taxi company I use for O'Hare is 847.272.8000 (American Taxi). Fare is usually around $28 (plus tip) each way.

Cheers,

Otis
